Scott I. Anderson, Principal, Cedar Grove Partners
Since 1997, Mr. Anderson has been a principal in Cedar Grove Partners, LLC, an investment and advisory partnership, and, since 1998, has been a principal in Cedar Grove Investments, LLC, a private seed capital fund. In his role at Cedar Grove, Mr. Anderson has had substantial experience with early stage companies in the wireless and telecommunications arenas. Mr. Anderson was a board member of Tegic, Inc., a wireless technology licensing company, until its merger into America Online, Inc. in 1999, was a board member of Xypoint, Inc., a privately-held telecommunications services company, until its merger into Telecommunications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSYS) in January of 2001, was a board member of Tritel, Inc., a publicly-traded telecommunications company, until its merger into Telecorp PCS, Inc. (NASDAQ: TLCP) in November of 2000, was a board member of TLCP until its merger into AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. in February of 2002, and was a seed investor in and observer to the Board of Callvision, Inc., a privately-held provider of advanced billing services to telecommunications providers, until its purchase by Verisign, Inc. in 2006, as well as to Telephia, Inc., a provider of syndicated marketing and system performance data to wireless and other telecom providers, until its purchase by Nielsen in 2007. He is currently a director of Suncom PCS (NYSE: TPC), Wireless Facilities, Inc., (NASDAQ: WFII), mInfo Inc. (www.minfo.com ) and GotVoice, Inc. ( www.gotvoice.com); is a member of the control groups of Von Donop Inlet PCS, LLC and LCW Wireless, LLC, both wireless licensees; and is an observer to the board of Tigerstripe, Inc. (www.tigerstripesoftware.com). He was employed by McCaw Cellular Communications and AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. from 1986 until 1997, where he served in various legal and M&A-related positions, last serving as Senior Vice President of the Acquisitions and Development group. Before his employment at McCaw, Mr. Anderson was engaged in private law practice in Seattle.
Jim Manis, President and CEO, 1024 Wireless Services
Jim has over 25 years of experience in developing international markets for technology based companies, advocating the advancement of wireless technology and promoting the mobile Internet on a global scale. He has been a primary leader in developing the mobile channel for the direct to consumer business and its use for interaction between brand and consumer. Jim leads the consulting and venture catalyst company of 1024 Wireless Services, and provides strategic direction for its clients in the mobile space. Prior to 1024 Wireless Services, Jim was a member of the founding executive team for m-Qube, Inc where he was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with their extensive list of carrier partners, securing m-Qube's position as the market leader for enabling technology-based companies, and advancing the growth and financial success of the industry. M-Qube was acquired by VeriSign in 2006 where Jim continued his responsibilities until March of 2007. Prior to joining m-Qube, Jim held senior leadership positions with Openwave Systems, Software.com, @ mobile.com, the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium, WestBridge International and the International Trade Administration.
Known for his collaborative and inclusive style, Manis serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), as a member of the Leadership Council of the Wireless Internet Caucus, and as an advisor to a number of mobile related companies. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Washington and an undergraduate degree from Illinois State University.
Jason Spero, Vice President Marketing, AdMob
Jason Spero is Vice President Marketing at AdMob. He is responsible for global marketing activities in AdMob's more than 160 country markets. This includes building the AdMob Marketplace to serve the companies hundreds of advertisers and more than 2000 publisher partners. AdMob serves over 1.2 Billion text and graphical ads per month with multiple levels of targeting. Jason joined AdMob in March 2007.
Jason brings more than 7 years of experience in the mobile space in Product, Marketing and General Management functions. Before joining AdMob, Jason was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Redpoint Ventures where he focused on mobile applications, services and infrastructure. Prior to Redpoint, Jason was SVP Marketing a Digital Chocolate where he was responsible for worldwide product, marketing and distribution. Jason launched some of DChoc's most successful products including its Social Applications line. During Jason's two years at the company, Digital Chocolate revenues grew by 400%.
Prior to DChoc, Jason was Director Product Management at Openwave where he led Client and Instant Messaging product teams.
Jason holds a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Andrea and daughter Isabella. |
